Judy Butler – Artist Spotlight

Please introduce yourself and your art medium.
Hi! I’m Judy Butler and I am a fused glass artist.

What is the most challenging aspect of being an artist?
The most challenging aspect of being a glass artist is narrowing down my ideas. I have found glass has a multitude of techniques available and I love exploring and experimenting.

What do you hope viewers take away from your artwork?
I love having viewers see my work and smile. Creating art makes me happy and I want to share that joy.

Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m usually an early bird but you can find me in the studio at night. I frequently work in the morning, get it in the kiln and then return in the evening to begin the next day’s projects. I work in my studio every day – if possible. It’s my happy place.

What role does experimentation play in your creative process?
Experimenting is essential

If you could take a week off from your regular life to immerse yourself in learning something new, what would it be?
I like learning watercolor. It is nice because it’s so portable and lightweight.
