Please introduce yourself and your art medium.
Hello, I am Karen Dukes and my art medium ranges from acrylic and oil paintings to flow art, metal, and fused glass.
What is the most challenging aspect of being an artist?
I think the most challenging aspect of being an artist for me is marketing. I enjoy the artistic process fully.
What do you hope viewers take away from your artwork?
I have always wanted viewers of my art to come away feeling happy, with sense of all the beauty in this world!
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I am definitely an early bird, but I don’t usually start working on my artwork until about 9 a.m. in the morning.
What role does experimentation play in your creative process?
I am constantly experimenting with art. I’ve come up with several different processes with painting and flow art and now with fused glass. I definitely enjoy creating artwork in a way that I have not seen someone else do.
If you could take a week off from your regular life to immerse yourself in learning something new, what would it be?
I would really love to learn the process of blown glass art.
