Photo session for Auburn Old Town Gallery Fashion show on Friday, October 7 at 6 pm
Auburn Old Town Gallery members staged an early morning fashion photo shoot in Old Town Auburn.
“We wanted to capture the morning indirect light, plus it gets really busy in Old Town around 9 am,” explained Auburn photographer Maria Soto-Bigelow, “It was safer this way!”
The photo shoot featured artwork by gallery members Ardith Gray (felted, collaged and dyed wearables), Keith and Merridee Smith (felted, batik, painted and dyed garments), Rebecca Martinez (polymer clay jewelry) and Jennifer Lile (leather accessories and handbags).
Local beauties Cheyenne Noel Owens and Annaleigh Hess of Auburn and Robin Rice of Meadow Vista modeled the pieces.
Don’t miss the full fashion show, to be held during the October Auburn Artwalk on Friday, October 7 at 6 pm.
The Friday evening show and reception will also feature music by Gia McNutt and John Potter, along with delightful snacks.

- All of Jennifer Lile’s leather pieces are hand sewn, with each stitch hole punched before construction.

- Merridee Smith’s magnificent felted wool butterfly cape represents many hours of arranging hand-dyed wool and felting the piece on black silk organza.

- “This scarf was done while I was studying with Agus Ismoyo and Nia Fliam in Yogyakarta, Indonesia,” recalls Keith Smith. “I used multiple layers of stamping with copper Indonesian batik stamps (tjaps) and made considerable use of hand batiking using tjanting tools, to create a richly complex design.”

- Copper charms necklace, by Rebecca Martinez, combines colorful polymer clay beads with traditional copper charms. The piece features a handmade asymmetrical front hook closure.
