Mary Lou Anderson has been working with glass for decades — cutting, layering, and kiln firing stained and dichroic glass, forming beautiful jewelry and art for walls and tabletops – for yourself or as gifts.
Nature is a major inspiration for Mary Lou, including trees, flowers, oceans, and animals. Other works of her art arise from her imagination and curiosity: what might happen if something new is done? Then she tries it to find out.
Glass must be heated and cooled slowly … patiently … strengthening it to ensure its durability. Temperatures to fuse glass can reach 1500 ̊ F (815 ̊ C). Some items require several firings, and each time in the kiln can take one or more days, depending on the size and thickness of the glass.
Many of Mary Lou’s glass creations are functional while others are destined to decorate your or a friend’s home or to be worn as stunning pieces of jewelry.
