Ceramicist Charles Borgardt has had a passion for ceramics for many years. He uses hand built and wheel thrown techniques to create his pieces.
Charles he added to his knowledge and experience when he worked as a tech assistant in a ceramics class at Truckee Meadows Community College. He was responsible for the firing of students’ artwork in gas, electric and raku kilns. Charles also worked in and managed the “Peace of Art” studio in Auburn where he learned more techniques and also taught other artists.
He continually experiments with techniques and glazes, looking for new creative results. Presently, Charles is focusing on using doilies to create specific patterns and textures
combining various colors and types of glazes. These doily pieces capture the past that
holds stories of other peoples’ lives.
