Please introduce yourself.
Hi, my name is Mary Lou Anderson.
Tell us about your favorite art medium.
I became addicted to glass a couple of decades ago. Glass is such a wonderful medium, capable of reflecting, refracting, transmitting light in a rainbow of colors. It is used in so many ways besides what we see every day that influences and improves our lives (windows, mirrors, artistic and useful bowls and plates, jewelry) that we take glass for granted most of the time. Everyone should take time to appreciate what glass does to make life better.
Who/what is/are your biggest artistic influences?
Simply put – nature influences me. Colors. Light. Happiness.
What motivates you to create?
Motivation is the need to create something permanent. Yes, breakable, but permanent. Break it and fuse it into something else new and inspiring.
When is your favorite time of day to create?
like to make things almost any time of the day. I am hoping to inspire my grandchildren into making more beautiful and creative things.
Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Working in my studio (converted garage) helps me escape to a world where things make sense — beautiful, calm, logical.
